As a Master of Landscape Architecture and former Professor of Landscape Architecture, Design, and Land Planning, I have a rich base of professional experience I couple with a keen sense of design and theory, I have a uniquely refined design aesthetic that I match with creating experiential spaces that serve the needs of the people within them.

Design Philosophy

In virtually all my work I challenge the ordinary, the mundane, and the conventional in order to create places that are truly extraordinary through spatial composition, color, texture, and experience. I have a diverse background that is woven together with the common thread of creating unique experiences.  •  Throughout my extensive travels around the world I have found great inspiration from cultures and landscapes in North America, Asia, Latin America, and Europe that has led me to seek a  design aesthetic where interior and exterior are seamlessly blended and the boundaries between them blurred. I draw extensively on the context of a place so that it connects meaningfully to it's surroundings and creates space that is at once inspirational and energizing. I find particular inspiration in the less-is-more aesthetic of Japanese Zen, the gardens of Thailand, contemporary designs of urban Europe, the colors of Mexico, and the family homes of Bali.

Environmental Conservation

Wolowaru is paperless! All work is done with 100% recycled electrons. From client communication, through design concepts, to final design. Wolowaru has no paper stationery, envelopes, or file cabinets. It's the 21st century—let's all try our best to leave those trees standing to make shade, fresh air, stable climate, and beauty for the world.
